MAMA raises money for other worthwhile family charities on the island with various fundraising events throughout the year. While our parties are free, we encourage guests to give a donation in lieu of an entrance fee to help raise money for these Charities. This year we are supporting The Coalition for the Protection of Children (CPC) and Committee of 25
The CPC is a Bermuda registered charity created to care for children, protect their welfare, and prepare them for the future. The CPC was established in 1992 to address the need for a non government organization to advocate on behalf of children and their families. The CPC was instrumental in developing the new protection of children legislation in 2000, it successfully lobbied for new day care regulations and established the inter-agency planning committee for children. Currently the CPC operate a walk-in crisis intervention centre-with life coaching and triage service, grocery support for struggling families and an educational fund for caregivers who are looking to improve their skills. The CPC also facilitates two school-based programs: Speak up Be safe and the Breakfast Program. For more information on their work please visit their website; www.coalition.bm
The Committee of 25 is an accredited nonprofit organization dedicated to support children with special or medical needs for families in Bermuda. The committee does not pay for the cost of medical procedures, but will cover the cost of airline tickets and hotel accommodation for the child and one parent for the duration of their stay overseas. In addition, it assists with the cost of expensive prescriptions, wheelchairs or other physical apparatus. Hundreds of Bermudian children have benefited from the committee and continue to rely on the committee’s financial assistance. For more information please visit; www.committeeof25.org
